A special Melbourne Cup Day as the team sent out 7 runners with 5 returning winners and a narrow 0.1 second. The day ended with mixed emotions as talented mare Promise Of Success was a late scratching at Flemington due to spreading a plate prior to her race. Despite that disapointment, it was a day to remember and a credit to connections and the staff. The highlight of the day was Quantico showing his talents in the MSS Security Listed Sprint at Flemington and Southern Lad winning the feature BM100 Choisir Hcp here at Randwick.

I Am Lethal got our Melbourne Cup Day off to a good start at 11.40, winning the 3yo Maiden 1400m. A stunning colt by I Am Invincible, his dam Steps In Time was a successful mare here for the stable many years ago. He is a big, immature colt who has taken time to furnish but looks to have an engine and we expect him to progress well over the coming seasons. He was given a peach of a ride by Tommy Berry and could be one for some nicer targets down the track. Well done to his owners- Mr N J Hoar, The Burgess-Hoar Family , Whitby Bloodstock Pty Ltd, Bangaloe Stud, Mr C E Holt, Mr R P Barwick, Mr J W Hillier

This’llbetheone was quick to follow I Am Lethal, winning the first race at Kembla Grange, winning on Debut. A beautiful son of Exceed And Excel, he has been a very slow learner and still shaped today as if there’s plenty more to come. A horse with a striking action and athletic way of going, we expect him to get over a bit of ground. Congratulations to Finemore Thoroughbreds, Torryburn Stud, Mr A S Osburg

Back to Kembla we went with promising type Comrade Rosa making her debut for Peachester Lodge. Her trials had been first class and she looks to have a very bright future, winning handsomely whilst still doing things wrong. We'd expect her to progress well in the coming weeks, before a potential tilt at some better races in the Autumn. This was Laura Laffertys first winner for the stable.

Southern Lad coming off a Ramornie Hcp Win, had trialled very well leading into his first run at Randwick, in the Choisir BM100 Hcp. Ridden beautifully by Hugh Bowman, he settled off the speed and ploughed through his rivals to win cosily. He is going as well as he ever has and its very pleasing to his ownership group who are getting plenty of enjoyment out of him. Champion Thoroughbreds, Mperezive Racing, Mr G C Green, Mrs J S Willis, Mr B Quinlan, Mr J A Denny, Mr S Bunt, Mr S Thatcher, Mr D H Long, Mr G R Tomlinson, Mr R M Farrar, Tab Rewards, Ms K J Mcdougall, Miss J M Petrie, Mr C Hodgkinson, Mr S A Mccormack, Mr D Steffel

Last but not least, Quantico was having his first run down the straight in his career in the MSS Security Listed 1200m. Ridden from barrier one by Kerrin McEvoy, he got a nice trail into the race and unleashed his turn of foot late, winning handsomely for connections. His ownership group have been very patient with him and he is now rewarding everyone with that being his 3rd consecutive win this preparation. Congratulations to owners- China Horse Club Racing Pty Ltd, J E Abrahams Pty Ltd, Werrett Bloodstock Pty Ltd, Yarraman Park Stud, Mr A D Paradice, Bill Duncan Bloodstock Pty Ltd, Mr R B Gold, HM & YP, Segenhoe Thoroughbreds Australia
