Our very own stable star Alex Maher was awarded for her hardwork and dedication in the industry taking out Sydney Strapper Of The Year at the NSWROA Awards at Royal Randwick on Thursday night. 

Alex grew up with a strong racing background, her father Peter Maher is trainer at Wodonga and her grandfather Jack was a successful trainer in the Victorian region in the 70’s. Alex packed her bags and headed to the big smoke in Sydney 5 years ago to work for Godolphin where her strong working relationship with John O’Shea began. When John left Godolphin, Alex soon followed and helped establish the Randwick stable where she remains an integral part of the team.

Alex's favourite horses she has looked after in the stable (past & present) are Pretty In Pink, Live & Free, Kuro & Parlay Vous. She was very humble in her acceptance speech- crediting the other nominees as deserved winners of the trophy too.
