Moonee Valley: Breakfast with the Best
It has been an exciting morning as the stars of the Cox Plate Carnival stepped out on to the track for their morning track gallop on the course proper at Moonee Valley.  Breakfast with the Best, which was televised live on TVN gave horses running over the 2-day festival the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the course.

This morning John O'Shea had four horses gallop for Breakfast with the Best with James McDonald and Helen Smith partnering them in their work.  All four put in solid performances, pleasing John and their riders.

Savvy Nature worked solo with James on board over a mile ahead of his entry in the Moonee Valley Vase on Saturday 26th October.

Gypsy Diamond has been nominated for the Fillies Classic on Friday night, 25th October.  This morning she worked in the company of Shoreham from Saab Hasan's stable, who will run in the Moonee Valley Cup on the Saturday.

Lucky Lago was partnered by stable rider Helen Smith in her work at Moonee Valley.  The mare worked over 1400m and has been dual-nominated for Moonee Valley in the Fillies & Mares Handicap (2040m) on Friday and the Tesio Stakes (1600m) on Saturday.

Diamond Oasis, the Champion Thoroughbreds representative also worked with Helen Smith on board as part of his preparation for the Telstra Phonewords Stakes (1200m).

The acceptances were also released during the Breakfast with the Best Barrier Draw for the Cox Plate and Manikato fields.  Cox Plate favourite, Atlantic Jewel did not appear in the final field after a tendon issue forced Mark Kavanagh to scratch her from the G1 event.  There were also two last minute entries from Chris Waller with Foreteller, instead of Sacred Falls who was anticipated to run and Danny O'Brien with Shamus Award who is first emergency for the race.

Last year, John O'Shea's multiple Group 1 winning mare Sea Siren won the Manikato Stakes with Jim Cassidy in the saddle.  Sea Siren was sold to Coolmore Stud following her final start for O'Shea at Ascot in the G1 Diamond Jubilee and has continued racing in the UK.
