Kencella returns to winning form at Rosehill

Perth breeders Lex and Shirley Piper had a winning start to their east coast holiday when Kencella proved too speedy for his rivals at Rosehill.

James McDonald made it a double for the afternoon, adopting catch-me-if-you-can tactics on Kencella.

''He was told to let him run and that is what he did,'' Lex said. ''We came here for this and Eladdair, which is out of the same mare, on Wednesday at Randwick. Then we are going to the Magic Millions where we are selling one, lot 789 out of Danza Doll by Street Sense.''

It continued a great start to the year for McDonald, who went home to New Zealand on New Year's Day and rode a treble, before backing up with a double at Wyong.
