Progressive 3YO Bergen cemented an unbeaten record at Newcastle on Saturday when jumping from a maiden to Benchmark 64 company over 1300m. The son of Your Song was given the difficult task of the widest draw in the field of 9 runners, and with the rail out 11 metres, he rolled forward and sat outside the leader. Bergen was under pressure around the hometurn as the leader skipped away but dug deep in a blanket finish to win by 0.16 length defeating his experienced rivals.

"He's still so raw, and has plenty to learn. I would have liked to have had another horse to follow in the run, but the barrier dicated our position early- he's a progressive horse with plenty of upside" commented jockey Shaun Guymer after the win.

Bergen was purchased by the Domeland syndicate from the Riversdale Draft at the 2017 Magic Millions sale for $35,000.

Congratulations to the connections.
