Cotehele headed off to the races at Newcaslte for his racecourse debut on Thursday and got his career off to a perfect start, with an impressive win on debut.

A striking son of Tavistock, Cotehele has been a colt we have held in high regard all along and it was pleasing to see him get his career started in great style. Ridden quietly from the gates, Brenton Avdulla got him in a good rhythm in the rear of the field. As they swung for home, he tracked up beautfilly and put them away in a matter of strides to win by 3.55lengths.

We will bring him along gradually this preparation and will look to step out at Warwick Farm on the 12th of May in the 2yo Hcp 1400m. If he continues to take his racing well, he is a possible for the Brisbane Carnival.

Well done to owners - Finemore Thoroughbreds, Mystery Downs, Mrs C M Cook, Mr C E Holt, Mr M Angelos, Mr L Ellas, Mr S J Young, Mr P Lucas, Mr A Harmanis
