There were two reasons to celebrate at Saturday's Kembla Grange meeting with stable fillies Foxpack and Carambola breaking their maidens. Foxpack was third-up for the preparation and excelled over the 1000m event, settling mid-field and storming down the outside to win by 0.4L- defeating the short-priced favourite Charm Offensive. "She's a really nice filly- she was out in the middle on her own for a fair while but she kept chasing and she has a great attitude" commented winning hoop Travis Wolfgram when returning to scale.Foxpack, a 3 year old daughter by Foxwedge is out of two times stakes winning mare Twelve Pack Shelley- her first foal, a full- sister to Foxpack is stakes winner Kentucky Miss. Congratulations to her team of owners Aston Bloodstock, Mrs R J Mula, Luskin Park Stud Racing, Think Big Stud, Mr C G Staff, Mr J M Whelan, Mr S P Whelan.

Two races later, High Chaparal mare Carambola, sporting the famous Makybe Diva silks, showed grit and determination to break her maiden at just her second career start. The 4YO was first-up off one barrier trial and did well to knuckle down against short-priced favourite Superbowl Sunday over the 1200m trip. "She's a lovely filly and has done a good job today after not everything went her way. I like the way she showed some toughness when she had to fight for it late" commented jockey Shaun Guymer after the win. Carambola, named after the star fruit which is a top note in perfume 'Belle Cherie' is out of Grand Slam mare Belle Cherie Mary (USA). Congratulations to Makybe Racing & Breeding Pty Ltd, Finemore Thoroughbreds, Mrs J M Maher, Mrs I O'shea.
