A special day for the stable and Champion Thoroughbreds as Lion's Roar came from last to first to win the Randwick Guineas.

Ridden beautfilly from a wide barrier by Brenton Avdulla, he settled back in last off a good tempo. Having got on the back of Aegon as the race developed, he got off his back at the 400m and gave a superb kick to win by 1.3lengths. Randwick is clearly a track he enjoys and this was a perfect stepping stone to his main target, the Rosehill Guineas.

The win was made extra special with him being a son of Contributer, who John trained to win multiple Group 1's. Lion's Roar was a $65,000 purchase from Karaka Book 2.

Well done to owners- Champion Thoroughbreds, Mr R M Hodge, Mrs S J Codner, Mr G Koneski, Ms V L Sheils, Mr J A Denny, Mr S J Brown, Mrs L Miller, Mr S A Miller, Mr H Bayliss, Mr J G Codner, Lotave, Mr M E J Mcintyre, Ms M J M Lambert, Mrs D L Fisher, Mr G B Lamont, Mrs F J O'shea, Sedgewyn, Mr J P Purtell, Mr D Steffel
