A West Australian raid proved a successful one for Awesome John as he ran away with the G2 WA Derby. The victory was aided by a patient steer from hoop William Pike, this allowed the three-year-old run out a strong 2400m. The son of Awesome Rock has had his foot on the till all preparation and thoroughly deserved this victory. An honest gelding with the ability to race consistently at a high level, a horse whom we feel is still yet to reach his ceiling. Awesome John will now fly back to Sydney and likely join stablemates Stroke Of Luck and Andalus in preparations for the QLD Derby.
