Cannon Sounds Warning to Staying Rivals

Sound of Cannons (IRE) finally rewarded connections with his first Australian win at Sandown on Wednesday over 2400m. After 999 days out of the winning circle, it was a dominant return to form, putting 2.25L on his opposition to book his spot in Saturday’s Andrew Ramsden (2800m).

Jamie Kah had the imported galloper well settled during the early stages of the race, and once he was produced to the middle of the track his class shone through as he dashed away from the rest of the field.

Saturday’s race carries ballot exemption to this year’s Melbourne Cup so all eyes will be firmly fixed on Flemington at 3.30pm on Saturday, with Zac Spain taking over the reins.
