Cotehele showed an exceptional turn of foot to secure victory on Saturday. The son of Tavistock brought up his fifth win from just nineteen starts to go along with four minor placings. A cool ride by jockey Tom Sherry allowed the talented four-year-old to savage the line. Being his first win beyond 1300m, this opens up a wide range of options going forward for the gelding, most likely aiming toward the Civic Stakes over seven furlongs before targeting the South Grafton Cup, with The Big Dance in mind.
The $100,000 Karaka purchase is now closing in on $400,000 prize money. A horse who is yet to reach his ceiling, the future is bright.
