Double Trouble at Wyong

A wet track at Wyong proved no hindrance to the stable and William Pike as we notched up a race-to-race double with two progressive types.

Awesome Wonder (IRE) kicked off the day as the regally-bred 3yo filly swamped the field late to break her maiden at her Australian debut. Purchased at the Goffs Orby Sale in 2020, Awesome Wonder is a daughter of the legendary Galileo (IRE) and G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes heroine Nechita (herself a half sister to former stable stalwart Art Thou Ready). After 3 unplaced runs in Ireland as a 2yo, the blue-blooded filly put the Queensland Oaks firmly on her radar coming from last at the 600m mark.

Congratulations to her connections: J E Abrahams Pty Ltd

Duke of Gordon repeated his last start performance under William Pike, running away as a short priced favourite to win by over 4L. Purchased at Karaka by the Go Racing team, the Dissident gelding has his tail in the air after breaking his maiden and looks set to continue on his winning ways this preparation. He is another winner from our Hawkesbury yard so a big congratulations has to go to the team out there who have presented him to the races in outstanding condition this preparation. He will be allowed to continue through his grades with no plans set in stone as yet.

Congratulations to his connections: Mr A J A Bosma, Mr G Kane, Mr K Robinson, Mrs SP Cunneen, Mr W G John, Dr P H Mitchell, Mr N S Pablecheque, Mr SE Stewart, Mr D R Rayner, Mrs A Rayner, Mr PR Baker, Mr J F Hepburn, Mr S D Maynard, Mr J Connell, Mr G E Harris, Mrs J E Harris, Ms BL Shanks
