It was two first up wins in as many days for a pair of our fillies fund graduates. The first coming in the form of Countyourblessings on Wednesday at Canterbury and the later, Snow In May remaining unbeaten on Thursday at Newcastle. Both were purchased as a part of our fillies funds in respective years with hopefully progressive springs ahead.
It was metropolitan victory number two for the I Am Invincible mare Countyourblessings on Wednesday at Canterbury. The mare settled last in run and was able to take all the shortcuts thanks to a cool Kerrin McEvoy ride eventually powering over her rivals late for a comfortable 1.7L win. This was a more than pleasing start to the new campaign, moving forward the mare will return to Canterbury on the 18th of September before looking to target some black type races. She is a $250,000 Magic Millions graduate from the Yarraman Park Stud draft.
The next day Snow In May (The Autumn Sun x See You Soon) headed to Newcastle and made it two wins from as many starts. The filly settled behind the speed thanks to a low draw and eventually got clear after a few nervous moments, the filly was again beneficiary to a top Kerrin McEvoy steer. We were lucky enough to pick this filly up for $140,000 from the Attunga Stud draft at last year’s Inglis Easter sales. We will let the dust settle before mapping a path for the remainder of the spring.
