Imported Pair Pinch Home Track Double

Promise of Success and Diamil landed dual blows for the stable on Spring Champion Stakes Day as momentum builds heading into the business end of the Spring Carnival.

In the second running of the $2m The Invitation, the mare donning the iconic Rosemont Stud “Red with White Gatecrasher” atoned for Rocha Clock’s close second to Icebath last year.

Kerrin McEvoy gave Promise of Success a vintage Randwick-mile ride, positioning worse than midfield before tracking three wide into the straight and exposing her once the field topped the rise. The response was immediate when he hit the go button, as she burst clear with an instant turn of foot to put the race beyond doubt.

A mare purchased out of the 2020 Tattersalls December Mare sale by Hannah Wall in conjunction with Rosemont Stud and David Redvers, attention will now turn to Melbourne with a number of races during the Melbourne Cup Carnival possible targets.

Congratulations to her owners: Rosemont Stud Pty Ltd, Ms H Wall, Mr D Redvers

Earlier in the day another imported galloper in Diamil put forward his Five Diamonds claims when saluting in the “Vale Beryl White Filante Handicap”. On the quick back up from an on-face-value disappointing run on Everest Day, the addition of a tongue tie allowed the Awtaad gelding to make the most of his ability and run down Purple Sector who had shot clear early in the straight.

The $2m Five Diamonds on 5th September is likely to be his next target, provided he comes through Saturday’s run in fine order.

A large contingent of happy owners were on course to cheer him home, congratulations to Mr R A Pegum, Mr F W Cook, Mrs C M Cook, Werrett Bloodstock Pty Ltd, Mr M D Sullivan, Mr N J Hoar, Mr J Recep, Mr S Lindsay, Mr S L Malcolm, Mr J Ingham, Encore Mission, Mr D L MacTaggart, Mr P A Cook, Mr M Farah, Mr W M Hanly, Mrs F J O’shea, Mr J P Mcredmond, Mr J A Roddy.
