JOHN O’SHEA RACING GOLF DAY 2023

The magnificent NSW Golf Club was once again host to the recent John O’Shea Racing Golf Day.

A big field of 27 players took part in this prestigious tournament!

From the opening drive, it was clear that this contest would be a test of nerve, stamina and strategy.

Pre-race favourite, Marty F, set a cracking tempo early and had the scoreboard attendant working overtime.

Tommy Carlton, who bears a striking resemblance to our own Tom Charlton, quickly dispelled the pre-game talk of his back injury when he let one rip off the first tee.

The boys from North Sydney informed the stewards at the eleventh hour of a change in riding tactics.

And Kenny S displayed cart driving skills as silky as a running route of a 49ers wide receiver!

Huge performance by the group consisting of Craig T, Daniel D, Chris R & Gareth H who were too strong in the team event.  Well done gentlemen.

Of note, were some spectacular individual performances.

Daniel D was once again way too good in the best dressed stakes!

Big Jackson G was a $1.40 chance to win the longest drive and he didn’t let the punters down when he plonked his ball into another post code.

Closest to the pin was taken out by Ben W whose approach shot was made with surgical precision.

Special mention to George M, who stood on the podium last year, for his gallant 3rd in the individual stableford event.

Newcomer, and southpaw, Angus J, jumped out of the ground to grab 2nd, and has been installed an early favourite for next year.

But of course, there can only be one winner. Congratulations to Chris R who broke a race record to land the major prize. The stewards took their time in declaring correct weight as they checked for possible excessive use of the whip. The bookies cheered when the all clear signal was displayed.

All in all, a fantastic day.

See ya next year.
