Linebacker Remains Unbeaten

Linebacker made it two wins from as many starts on Saturday taking out the Group 3 Baillieu Stakes over 1400m.

The juvenile was pushed all the way by the typically tenacious Waterhouse Bott runner, Anode. This was a huge effort considering he gave race experience to the majority of the field and was forced to take a seat and chase for the very first time. The colt was guided by a perfect ride from the in form Tommy Berry who executed the tactics beautifully from the potential sticky gate of one.

This was also a big day for his sire, Super Seth being his first stakes winner. The stallion is air bone at the moment having had fourteen runners for already four individual winners, this comes as no surprise being given every chance by Waikato Stud.

Moving forward Linebacker will make his way to the Group 1 Champagne Stakes over 1600m on day three of The Championships.

Congratulations to his winning owners- Mr F W Cook, Mrs C M Cook, Finemore Thoroughbreds, Mr D J Hines, Prairie Racing , Mr M Angelos, Mrs C Briggs, Mr M W Finemore, Mr J D Melick, Mr R J Miller, Peake Racing, Mr T P Ballard, Mr T Charlton, Mr M J Miller, Mr S Miller, Mr A Harmanis, Mr N Socratous

The stable also had other runnings including Saltaire running a brave third at Flemington in the Sunlight Classic, she will improve for the run and will either head to the Sapphire Stakes or Arrowfield Stakes on the 13th. The other notable performance was Athabascan running a slashing fourth the G1 Tancred over 2400m, the french stayer has laid a nice foundation and is now heading to the Sydney Cup.
