OUR STORY
JOHN O’SHEA
EXPERIENCE, INTEGRITY & VALUE
With 28 Group 1 wins to his name, John O’Shea numbers amongst Sydney racing’s elite trainers.
After celebrating his very first Group 1 win in 2002 with Shot Of Thunder in the Toorak Handicap at Caulfield, he went on to enjoy success at the highest level, training top class gallopers Charge Forward, Foxwedge and Racing To Win.
His growing reputation resulted in John being offered the prestigious position of Head Trainer at Godolphin in 2014. During the next three year in this role, he celebrated more than 550 winners, including 10 Group 1 victories with the likes of Astern, It’s Somewhat and Exosphere.
In August 2017 John returned to the public training ranks, establishing John O’Shea Racing’s stable at Randwick, where he has made it his mission to work with a great team, loyal owners and quality horses. The success of the Randwick operation led, in 2021, to the addition of a second stable located in the beautiful Glen Haven property in Hawkesbury.

Facilities
With two locations, at Randwick and Hawkesbury, John O’Shea Racing offers both the convenience and the capacity to train your horses to reach their full potential.
At Randwick we are blessed with wonderful facilities for training racehorses to the highest of their ability. Our stable consists of 50 boxes with a private treadmill, swimming pool, sand gallop, a state of the art Polytrack gallop and multiple grass tracks maintained to the highest level. The complex is located just a short drive to the beach at Botany, which is regularly used by the stable to both aid with recovery and as a revitalising ‘day out’ for the horses.
Our second stable, at Hawkesbury Racecourse, consists of 25 boxes, and offers further facilities to complement our Randwick complex. Based at the Glenn Haven property, one of the premier stabling facilities in NSW, it has turn out paddocks, day yards, a Polytrack and off-track trail rides, as well as access to a treadmill and pool. Providing a safe and relaxed environment, it is well suited to horses that can be overwhelmed by the busier environment of Randwick.
