Hell I Am and Shalailed booked their tickets to the Gold Coast on Wednesday as the stable quinellaed the 3&4yo Magic Millions Classic at Wyong and notched back to back feature top-two’s for the stable.
Both purchased from the 2021 Gold Coast Yearling Sale, a bevy of owners are expected to return to the Glitter Strip in a months time to see their charges in action at the iconic festival of racing and breeding. James McDonald and Brenton Avdulla gave each of their mounts centimeter perfect rides, with Hell I Am benefitting from his stablemate’s slipstream to overrun him in the final furlong.
It was a fitting sequel to Saturday’s feature quinella in the G2 Ingham, where the Finemore silks of Kirwan’s Lane knocked off the Champion Thoroughbred managed Lion’s Roar as connections swapped roles at Wyong.
Both horses are building impressive records, with Hell I Am a winner of 4 races from 8 racetrack appearances, while the only time Shalailed has missed a placing was his first up 4th when beaten 0.66L behind Democracy Manifest.

Earlier in the day promising imported galloper Master Copy kept his good record intact when winning a Class 1 in impressive fashion. Sent out a 4/6 favourite in the old, he proved far too classy for his rivals when dashing away to win by 1.5L with more in hand.
A horse with plenty of scope to improve further, he will now likely head to the paddock before being brought back to racing at the back end of the Autumn carnival.
