The ever-consistent Pizarro continued the strong run of form for Champion Thoroughbred owned horses when splitting a tight gap to record a comprehensive victory at Randwick on Saturday.
After Hell I Am’s Canterbury victory on Wednesday, Pizarro showed a dazzling turn of speed to notch his second metropolitan win for the preparation and take his record this time in to 5 starts, 2 wins, 2 seconds and a third with over $240,000 earned for his connections.
Hugh Bowman re-united with the All Too Hard gelding, having been aboard at his first three runs of the preparation and he required the patience of Job to wait for the gap to appear, but once it did the race was over in a matter of strides.
Saturday also saw the return to the races of last season’s ATC Derby runner up Benaud, who pleased all and sundry with a 6th in the Group 1 Winx Stakes, beaten less than three lengths. His work late for a horse who will be better suited over further trips bodes well for the rest of his preparation.
