Our exciting $1.25 million colt Schwarz (Zoustar x Summar Sham) has shown that he is a true Group 1 contender after adding a Group 2 win to his resume in the form of a Missile Stakes on Saturday.
Partnered with the champion jockey James McDonald, the pair looked to be in prime position going into the straight despite having a wide barrier. It wasn’t until the 200m, the Zoustar Colt had to dig deep as their competitors would look to try and claim victory late. Schwarz would go onto win a gutsy race by 0.1 of a length ending the day with an impressive record of eight starts with four wins.
James McDonald would go onto say “He didn’t have anything go his way”
“I think he is obviously the best horse in the race, but he had to tough it out”.
This win was also a significant win for the stable as it was Tom Charlton’s first Stakes win after being in partnership with John for only a couple of months. O’Shea and Charlton will look to target a Group 1 over the Spring.

Whilst it was all glitz and glamour for O’Shea and Charlton, the partnership started the day off with a lovely win from the 6YO Bay Mare Awesome Wonder (Galileo x Nechita) under the apprentice Jett Stanley.
Although it had been a while since the mare had been in the winners stall, Awesome Wonder looked to be competitive as she was on home soil, her fitness was of a high standard and she had a 2kg claim.
There was high praise for Jett Stanley’s performance on Awesome Wonder as he found cover on the fence and placed her perfectly coming into the straight where she got to exhibit her talents.
Well done to Jett on the ride and her connection and long-time friend to John Jason Abraham!
