Stable Double

It was a stable double at Kembla Grange on Saturday with a pair of exciting three-year-olds winning in commanding fashion whilst setting up what could be an exciting Spring.

The first of the duo to hit the track was King of Thunder (Tivaci x Sheezababe) in the 1600m Super Maiden. The gelding broke well from the barriers and led from pillar to post to land an impressive 5.5L victory. It was a well executed ride from an in-form Andrew Adkins and along with the addition of the blinkers which seemed to make all the difference. The son of Tivaci is a $50,000 NZ Ready to Run graduate and takes his prize money to $44,000 from just three starts. Going forward we will likely take a breath and look to target some 3yo staying races deeper into the Spring.

Later in the day the lightly raced Komodo Dragon added another victory to his resume, making it two wins and a minor placing from three career starts. The son of Hellbent again showed good tactical speed being able to take up a prominent position just off the pace and was too strong late for a 1.8L victory. It was again a 10/10 ride from Sam Clipperton who is building a great affiliation with the 3yo. We purchased the gelding at Inglis Classic sale from the Yarraman Park Stud draft for $170,000. Moving forward we will give the 3yo a quick freshen up given its his first racing preparation before setting our sights on some stakes level targets in a month’s time.
