Strong Start To New Year

It’s been a strong start to 2024 for the team, with January alone bringing 11 winners from just 31 runners, striking at over 35%. This is a great result for our loyal owners and team at home, the winners have come in all shapes an sizes from horses on debut, progressive three-year-old’s aiming at Autumn targets and a Group 1 placegetter returning to form in a very big way.

The highlight of the month was Zou Tiger taking out the Carrington Stakes by 2.5L over seven furlongs, the son of Zoustar has always had the quality running third in both the G1 Golden Rose and Randwick Guineas as a 3yo. The gelding was dominate pulling away from a quality field at Randwick curtesy of a positive Zac Lloyd steer, the now four-year-old has set himself for a busy Autumn carnival with some bigger targets down the line.

Some exciting debuts for the stable also caught the eye with Getafix winning intown by just under length under the guidance of Nash Rawiller, the son of Clayx has been for a quick freshen up leading into the Autumn and will now take on the G2 Todman Stakes over 1200m to kick off his campaign. Stablemate Turned Down also made a winning start to his racing career, taking out the 1250m fixture at Canterbury again thanks to a strong Nash Rawiller ride. The son of Staphanos is doing a great job in his first racing preparation and will be allowed to work his way through the grades this time in, the 3yo will only improve with time.

Some of our other progressive winners include staying mare Wecansay Dun breaking her maiden at Gosford, Dimitrov returning from the Gold Coast to score comfortably at Warwick Farm and Suit Of Armour scoring two victories before a narrow second in town.
