Waihaha Falls continued on his winning ways second up at Randwick on Saturday, recording his second emphatic victory from as many starts this preparation. Up in grade to a Benchmark 88 but down in the weights, the son of Sacred Falls won with the authority to suggest there are much better races than winter handicaps in store.
Reece Jones allowed him to find his feet through the early stages of the race, before improving his position around the bend and ambling up the rise with a lap full of leather. Once Jones went for him there was an immediate reaction, so much so that racecaller Darren Flindell pronounced the race “all over” at the 200m mark with 4.68 lengths the official margin.
He looks to be a horse with a bright future and will likely return to the scene of the crime in a fortnight over 1300m. Congratulations to his owners and breeders: Mr M J Chittick, Mr G J Chittick, Mr G Lowry.
