Zoukerino Zooms Through Mud

Zoukerino stamped himself as a colt to watch in the early part of the spring with a dominant debut victory on the Kensington track at Randwick yesterday.

Stepping out on a Heavy 10 track and having drawn wide on the track, he was given a perfect ride by Brenton Avdulla to slot in just behind the leaders and off the rail. Given slight urging around the corner, he picked up the bit quickly and charged through a tight gap on straightening. Once balanced he put the field away in the manner of a horse with much more to offer as the better races come around.

Purchased by Suman Hedge at the Magic Millions National Sale, the colt topped the sale at $500,000 from the draft of John Muir’s Milburn Creek who retained a share in the ownership. Racing in the colours of Sheriff Iskander and Iskander racing, he has shown plenty of promise on the training tracks so to see it reflected on race day pleased the team immensely.

Congratulations to his owners Iskander Racing & Breeding, Milburn Creek Thoroughbred Stud, Mr J G Richards, Mr S P Hedge.
